Squirrels

Who can join Squirrels?

Squirrels can be girls and boys, aged 4-6 years.

When do we meet?

Our Squirrels meet on Friday afternoon, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. We only meet during term time.

Who leads Squirrels?

Our Squirrel leader is Blossom (Emma) who runs our Squirrel Drey with the support of adult leaders and young leaders. All leaders are DBS checked.

What do Squirrels do?

Squirrel Scouts aim to help and support young people gain skills for life at a time when it matters most and where it’s most needed. Squirrels can achieve anything they set their minds to, and they will have lots of fun along the way.

The one-hour sessions is a brilliant opportunity for young people to take their first step into being part of Scouts, and they’ll help everyone get ready for the adventure of school too.

Sessions are packed with outdoors activities, fun, games, badges, laughter, and so much more to help our youngest members learn the skills they need for life.

What uniform do Squirrels wear?

After approximately 6 weeks of attending Squirrels, your child will be ‘Invested’. This involves the Squirrel getting their uniform and taking part in a small ceremony where they will make their promise. They will require a red Squirrel sweatshirt (purchased from The Scout Store), a burgundy group 4th Littlehampton Group t-shirt (purchased from Felix Dance Wear, Beach Road, Littlehampton) and a group scarf (purchased from the Scout group on the night of investiture).

What is the cost of Squirrels?

The cost of Squirrels is £40 per school term plus the cost of trips and uniform.

If you are interested in joining our Squirrel Drey, please go to our Contact page and leave a message and a leader from our group will get back to you.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
