Beavers
Who can join Beavers?
Girls and boys aged 6-8 years. However, we are able accept children from 5 years and 9 months.
When do we meet?
Our Beavers meet on Tuesday evenings, starting at 17:00 and finishing at 18:15. We only meet during term time but quite often have sleepovers and trips during school holidays.
Who leads Beavers?
Our Beaver leader is Hare (Jess) who runs our Beaver group with the support of adult leaders and young leaders. All leaders are DBS checked.
What do Beavers do?
As a Beaver, they will experience the great outdoors, explore creative crafts, discover their community and make friends. Through the Beaver Scout programme, we offer a variety of activities which develop and challenge children of all abilities and backgrounds. We often have themed evenings where we have fun and engaging activities such as a Dinosaur challenge, Talk like a Pirate Day, Hedgehog Challenge and Circus skills evening.
Scouting offers more than fun activities, Beavers will learn skills that are fundamental to their personal development and to reach their full potential. Alongside this, your child will develop practical skills such as teamwork, problem solving, communication and responsibility. Including digital, first aid, camping and cooking skills.
What uniform do Beavers wear?
After approximately 6 weeks of attending Beavers, your child will be ‘Invested’. This involves the Beaver getting their uniform and taking part in a small ceremony where they will make their promise. They will require a turquoise Beaver sweatshirt (purchased from The Scout Store), a burgundy group 4th Littlehampton Group t-shirt (purchased from Felix Dance Wear, Beach Road, Littlehampton) and a group scarf (purchased from the Scout group on the night of investiture).
What is the cost of Beavers?
The cost of Beavers is £40 per school term plus the cost of trips, sleepovers and uniform.
