Cubs

Who can join Cubs?

Girls and boys aged 8 to 10½. A young person may join us at 7 1⁄2 years.

When do we meet?

Cubs meet on Monday evenings from 18:15 to 19:30. We only meet during term time but quite often have sleepovers and trips during school holidays.

Who leads Cubs?

Our Cub leader is Akela (Sarah) and is joined by a team of adults that help run our Cub meetings. The team also consists of young leaders (14-18-year olds). All leaders are DBS checked.

What do Cubs do?

Cub Scouts meet together as a Pack and work within a variety of small groups called ‘Sixes’. As a Cub they will take part in a variety of activities that aimed to be engaging and to develop their skills. Alongside this, they will have fun, go on adventures, explore the outdoors, try new things, make friends and help make a difference in their community. They achieve these skills through an action-packed programme provided by the leadership team.
During their time at Cubs they will work towards their Chief Scout Silver Award and a range of badges. Camps and outings are planned throughout the year where they will be able to gain unique experiences.

What uniform do Cubs wear?

After approximately 6 weeks of attending Cubs, your child will be ‘Invested’. This involves the Cub getting their uniform and taking part in a small ceremony where they will make their promise. They will require a green Cub sweatshirt (purchased from The Scout Store), a burgundy 4th Littlehampton Scout Group t-shirt (purchased from Felix Dance Wear, Beach Road, Littlehampton) and a group scarf (purchased from the Scout group on the night of investiture).

Also, Cubs are encouraged to purchase a burgundy, 4th Littlehampton Scout Group hoodie which is purchased from Felix Dance Wear (Beach Road, Littlehampton).

What is the cost of Cubs?

The cost of Cubs is £40 per school term plus the cost of trips, sleepovers, camps and uniform.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
